Were you able to visit your local fair this year? Local fairs are great avenues to recognize many talented individuals within your community. Maybe some of you were participants in an event at your local fair and walked away with a blue ribbon.
We certainly can’t leave out mentioning the fair’s midway – the rides, games and food! By now, most state and county fairs have come and gone, but the references to “fair food” are far from over. Top of mind are the decadent treats like deep fried cookies, candy bars, mac and cheese and the list goes on.
With all the talk about deep frying, it made me think about the recipes reminiscent of fair food that would be fun to make as a family. Corn dogs are still a perennial fair favorite and easy to replicate at home. I think the trick to successful deep frying is finding the perfect temperature. If you don’t have a deep fryer, you can use a cooking thermometer to achieve the same results.
Doughnut holes are another treat perfect for a fall weekend. Make these S’more Doughnut Holes with a Martha White® Chocolate Chip Flavored Muffin Mix and serve with marshmallow topping and graham cracker crumbs for dipping. You and your family can even create your own signature doughnut holes – made specifically for your taste buds!
