Apple Cider – A Taste of Fall

The thought of apple cider takes me directly to fall. Served cold or hot, it always seems comforting somehow. Traditionally, apple cider was made from the windfall apples that fell to the ground before harvest. These apples were gathered and pressed in a cider mill to release the juice and separate it from the pulp.

For a taste of apple cider in your fall baking, here is a delicious Apple Cider Crisp recipe that is quick and easy to make with Martha White® Apple Cider Flavored Muffin Mix. By using the muffin mix and apple pie filling, you will have a delicious warm crisp in a flash. I love adding another fruit to pie filling for a little more complex flavor. For an additional twist, try adding dried, fresh or frozen cranberries to this filling.  In addition to the muffin mix you’ll need a few topping ingredients – oats, brown sugar, butter and pecans. To add versatility to this recipe, consider using an Apple Cinnamon Flavored Muffin mix, Cinnamon Sugar Muffin Mix or even Pumpkin Spice Flavored Muffin Mix.

So delicious, quick and easy, this is sure to be one of your “go-to” recipes for fall celebrations or weekday supper.
